Colwall Rotary Wins District Quiz
A "brain packed" team of Colwall Rotarians won the Rotary District 1100 quiz on Thursday 17th April 2008.
The winning team are pictured here being presented with the Champions Shield by District Governor Peter Davey. (From left to right: David Watson, Stephen Hopkins and Simon Thompson). The event was the culmination of a knock out process that started last Autumn and involved nearly 60 teams from across Rotary District 1100.
Along with the shield the team was presented with a cheque for £300 towards its charity funds which will find its way towards the good causes that Colwall Rotary Club supports both locally and overseas.
The team got off to a strong start with the opening round being about capital cities of various lesser known countries around the world. With a lead of 14 points after round 1, the team never lost their double digit lead over the next 9 rounds despite scoring "nul point" in the Soaps round (they do get out a lot!).
The other two teams on the night came from the Royal Forest of Dean and Swindon Old Town clubs. Swindon Old Town are past winners themselves of this competition.
