The Hanley Swan Big Lunch is now in its 7th year and is a day where neighbours and members of communities can stop what they're doing and come together for the simple act of sharing a meal. The community in Hanley Swan thought it would be a good way to bring together the many groups who live here and, with the backing of the Parish Council and permission to hold an event, we hold a gathering on the Hanley Swan Village Green.
This year we have a large inflatable obstacle course and other inflatable challenges, a BBQ, a hog roast, a carousel, welly wanging, a coconut shy, a light-hearted dog show, music and much more. Whilst The Big Lunch is a non-profit making event, local charities and clubs are invited to set up a stall to raise money for themselves.
As ever, events like these do not happen by themselves and volunteers are needed for the day to go ahead. This year, Colwall Rotary Club have volunteered to help on the day by providing people to help operate some of the attractions - their offer of help has been gratefully accepted.
We are manning 2x inflatables – inflatable mini golf and also an inflatable obstacle course.
We ideally need 2 people manning each inflatable – one to take tickets and one to supervise the people on it. Therefore we need 4 people manning the inflatables at any one time.
The Rotary Club will also set up a stall to raise money for The Bridge - a local educational charity based just outside the village - and other Rotary causes.
