The competition was excellent. It was a pleasure watching the chefs prepare their menus and then having seven great menus to sample. Seven great meals meant it was difficult for the judges to decide, but they shortlisted three and tasted once again! The winner had cooked an excellent lamb tagine followed by a chocolate fondant with a gorgeous runny centre. Faye Borthwick was very pleased with the evening and delighted how impressed the judges were with the menus and their execution. I don't think any of the judges could eat supper after tucking into such delicious food! It was a pleasure watching the chefs prepare their menus and then having seven great menus to sample.
Jennis Griggs, our long standing Heads Judge, said “I love the Young Chef competition and the enthusiasm of the cooks is infectious! This year was the best ever, I think because they were all from YR11 and were more confident in themselves and the food produced was such a high standard.”
The winners were:
1. Sarah Chappell
2. Lily Seabright
3. Amy Russell
Thank you to Faye for organizing the competition and to the chefs for taking part. Thank you also to our judges – Yvonne Brook, Jenni Griggs and Chris Mill.
