Colwall Rotarians guarding the Golden Barrow, top prize in the Wheelbarrow Racing at the Colwall Alehouse Festival at St James Church, Mill Lane Colwall, on Saturday 16th July.
Rotarian Mike Pilling, the only know un-official referee for UK Wheelbarrow Racing, predicted fierce competition for the Golden Barrow saying ‘This is an open competition which you can enter on the day. If there isn’t a lap record I’ll eat the hat I don’t normally wear’
Thanking J-Mart in Malvern for the wheelbarrow, and Handyman House and Forward Motors for the paint, Rotarian and amateur wheelbarrow painter Alan Torbet said ‘I am not prone to overstatement, but this is bigger than the World Cup. It’s positively immense.’
‘Colwall Festival will be a great family day out’ said Phil Hitchin, the organiser. ‘We’ve got lots of family fun games, food and drink, arts and crafts, and the Classic Car Cavalcade to open the Festival at 11am.
We’ve also got a special wheel-in visit from the World-famous Red Barrows display team.’
