Colwall Rotary Club Donation Now Afloat

Following the tragedy on Boxing Day 2004, Colwall Rotary Club joined with other Rotary Clubs from District 1100 and sent a donation of £1000 for immediate relief work. As is the case with all Rotary charitable giving overseas, this was channelled through the Rotary Club of Guntur in India (part of District 3150).

There were no limitations on how the money was to be spent. So it was of great interest to the club when we received pictures in the post of what our donation had bought. The picture below was taken on March 6th 2005, and shows Rotarian Jeremy Davis of District 1100 formally “handing over” the Colwall boat, one of about 200 bought and produced locally with the donations of clubs across the District.
Further reports and pictures about Rotary District 1100’s response to the Tsunami can be found on their website.
