The Rotary Club of Colwall in the Malvern Hills Handover.

In the photos retiring President Alan Torbet gives the President’s chain of office to and then congratulates the incoming President Simon Thompson.

Alan said of his year, “As my year comes to a close I’d like to recognise the events, the leadership and teamwork, which in my view exemplify what ‘being in Rotary’ is all about – and without which this club would not work half as well as it does – and indeed would probably not work at all.

“As well as supporting others in the community we have raised over £10,000 this year and donated these monies to a variety of local and international charities.”

Simon is an Internet Marketing Consultant. He is a long standing member of the club and has been President once before in 1993-94.

Simon said, “I am really looking forwards to my year, We have a very varied programme. I have tried to ensure that as far as possible we get out and about when the evenings are light and we have two outside visits in July and August (including the ever popular canoeing trip down the River Wye.) Thereafter there is a busy programme of speaker evenings, visits and trips, I want Rotarians to have an enjoyable time while we raise monies and work to help others.”
